Teachers’ Day is a celebration to honor the dedication and hard work of educators who help shape the future of their students. This year’s celebration began with a parade of the faculty and staff, a gesture of gratitude for their valuable service. After the National Anthem and an invocation led by Margaux Laverne Dy from Grade 3 – Unity, Mr. Frank Co, Chairman of the PIQC Board of Trustees, delivered a speech highlighting the importance of teachers not only in education but also in nurturing responsible citizens.
The program continued with the presentation of the Longevity Award to teachers and staff who have dedicated years of service to the school, recognizing their love for the entire PIQC Community. Among the distinguished awardees were Mr. William Astor and Ms. Zeide Joy Montoya, both celebrating 10 years of service, Mrs. Adelina Culang for her remarkable 20 years, Mrs. Erlinda Dellona for an inspiring 25 years, and Ms. Marilyn Hernandez, whose extraordinary 40 years of devotion stood as a testament to her enduring passion and dedication for teaching. The Student Council President, Jann Denise Huang from Grade 11-STEM, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the life-changing impact teachers have on their students. As a testament to this, PIQC alumna, Ysabel Calderon, who served as the guest speaker, shared an inspiring testimony about how her teachers deeply influenced her confidence and personal growth during her time at PIQC. This was followed by vibrant performances, including a dance number by the Dance Club that energized the audience, and musical performances by the Kinder Orange and Kinder Melon preschool classes, who sang “Thank You for the Music” and “I Want to Say Thank You.” In a heartfelt tribute, students from Grades 4, 5, and 6 also performed “Handog Mong Karunungan” to honor their beloved teachers.
The performances continued with the Glee Club delivering touching renditions of “Thanks to You” and “Forever Star.” Students from various grade levels also showcased their talents with performances of “Karera,” “A Sky Full of Stars,” and “With a Smile.” The school band brought the house down with energetic covers of iconic 70s and 90s hits like “Dancing Queen” and “Elesi.” The performance ended with Grade 10’s rendition of the song “Through the Years,” celebrating the lasting bond between teachers and students through shared memories. Additionally, students contributed to a “freedom board” titled “What Are Your Core Memories with Your Teachers?” where they shared personal moments and reflections on the lasting impact of their teachers, adding a personal and poignant touch to the celebration.
The event concluded with closing remarks from the Acting School Principal, Mrs. Janette Ty. She gave honor to the Teachers and Staff who were present during the event and even shared her own experience of the joys of the teaching profession, highlighting to everyone that this profession is leaning more on giving rather than taking and that the importance of an educator is one of the most significant roles in society.
This year’s Teachers’ Day was a heartfelt tribute, recognizing the invaluable contributions of teachers and the lasting influence they have on their students. It was truly a day filled with fun, gratitude, and admiration for those who play a vital role in shaping the future. Praise God for our Educators! We love you our dear Teachers!
